And just like that, my running goals for 2012 got 6.2 miles longer, or 10K to be exact.
A special thanks to my blogging friend Susanne over at Shoulda Ran Faster, for telling me about the Sole of the City 10K. Sponsored by Under Armour, Charm City Run and The Green Turtle, it is a great feeling to be running a local race for local companies.
If you could not tell from my last post, I LOVE Under Armour gear, so the cherry on this sundae is the race premium: A Black Under Armour Escape Lightweight Quarter Zip.
And to throw some sprinkles on that sundae, the hubster has agreed to sign up and run with me. I was able to convince him that he had come darn close to completing the 10K distance on our last long run and he should be proud of his accomplishments and take this act on the road.
As I have said before, I have high hopes for 2012. So far, it is living up to my expectations. Life is what you make of it, and I am taking it one mile at a time.

Thanks for the shout out and I am excited for the event, and hope it will be fun! Hubby is signing up with me - I am happy I got him to do another race. He always runs with me, but doesn't like to do events (or should I say, pay for them). I hope the best to us in our running adventures this year! My goal is to break 2 hours at the Balimore Half. I went from 2:53 to 2:31 last year, and then 2:19 at a different half. It will be a lofty goal for that course, but one can dream! My second dream is to not get hurt, because taht would damper all running!
ReplyDeleteHow could I not give you the shout out?! You're the one who told me about this race. lol
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is the same way. He's all, "I know I ran it, why do I need to pay for a number to prove it?" Psh. It's the energy! The excitement! The thrill! He doesn't get it.
My goal for the DC RnR half is 2:15. If I could break under 2:00 I'd be elated! Good luck!
I'm not only a new follower to your blog, but also a newbie runner and right here in Baltimore, no less! I achieved the goal I set for myself in 2011-which was one 5k per month. And the last one I was finally able to do the whole thing without any walking breaks. (I am really really slow!). I have been wondering about what my running goal for 2012 should be and this Sole of the City has been getting my attention. That jacket is SWEEET!! I am still on the fence about it. I'll be reading your blog. It inspires me!
ReplyDeleteWelcome FiddlersBride and thanks for following me! Your 2011 goal sounds like quite an accomplishment. That's a lot of miles under your belt for a new runner.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about your speed! There is plenty of time, and always room for, improvement. Everyone has to start somewhere. I couldn't run half a mile without becoming winded when I first started out on this journey.
The sole of the city seems like a logical next step in your running goals. You're local, it's a reasonable increase to the runs you've already achieved, and that is one sweet jacket. lol
I would definitely recommend taking the challenge and signing up for the Sole of the City. I have a feeling it's going to be an awesome run. And don't worry about your pace, just finish the race.
